Eastside Contemporary Art Gallery
Downtown Eastside - Vancouver, BC
We are a contemporary art gallery located in the Downtown East Side of Vancouver. Our space is equipped with track lighting and is the perfect place to host an extended art show, shared studio space, photo shoot or a retail pop-up shop. We have a PA system, tables, chairs and also two clothing racks that may be used with the rental of this space.
We have blocked off times where we have exhibitions up, however, if you are planning an event where you do not mind some artwork up, a meeting, cocktail party, meditation etc. Please let us know and we might be able to fit you in.
We are now offering optional bar service, with one of our staff available to run your bar for an additional hourly fee. We've provided this service to recent rentals who greatly appreciated the additional support and being able to more thoroughly enjoy their event without running their own bar sales.
This service is schedule dependent. Please inquire for details.

This was a great space to hold an art fundraiser. There was tons of room and it was nice to have a fridge in the back to store extra food and drinks. There was also a sound system but the speakers are a bit big for the area so we just used a smaller boom box and it worked perfectly. Yes the area is not the best but we had no problems with people. One thing to note is that the bathroom area is not the cleanest but it is also not directly in the studio, you need to walk out the back door to get to it, but other then that the area was clean and ready to go. There are tons of tables, chairs, stands, etc which gives you lots of options for how you want to set up the space. Will definitely be renting again for future art events, birthdays, etc :)
The venue was cute and just the right size for our event. Communication was a little iffy when trying to make initial contact but eventually we were directed to get in touch with the gallery assistant who was very helpful with the key exchange. There were speakers, mini fridges and tables for our use at the venue. The bathroom is accessible but it is not modern or updated. Also, the garbage bins could not be found in the back alley. The location in East Hastings was a little sketch but we kept the front door locked and stayed in groups at the end of the night while waiting for cabs. As a result, we didn't run into any trouble. Overall, an amazing backdrop for our end of the year celebration (UBC Players Club).
Great experience. No drama, everything as expected. Hired Whitney to run the bar and she was a pleasure to work with. Julia was very easy to communicate with and flexible of my needs.
This was our second time renting the Gam Gallery for an event, and once again it was a pleasant experience. Julia and her team are always professional and easy to communicate with , highly recommended space!
We threw a party at the GAM Gallery to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday. The space was really great, and I would certainly rent it again. For events, there is a counter space which worked great as a bar.
Julia and her team were incredible. They were readily available, responsive, and helpful from my first inquiry to the moment I handed back the keys. The space is great - high open ceilings, clean, lots of character. Space consists of open front room that funnels into a back aisle with studio spaces leading back to a stairwell (where the bathroom is). Bathroom is a bit sketchy but for the location it was just fine (would recommend bringing extra toilet paper and hand soap). Capacity says 60 but I wouldn't recommend more than 40. Overall, a fantastic experience and everyone who attended our event loved the space. Would absolutely book again!
I rented the Gam Gallery for my fiancés 30th surprise birthday. The space was clean, bright, and unique. Julia was quick to respond to my emails right from the beginning and communicated extremely well throughout the whole process. I would definitely rent this space again and would recommend it to anyone looking to rent a space for any kind of celebration, an art show, or a pop-up shop.
Julia and Tarah were great to deal with and the Gam Gallery is really an awesome space! We did an electronic music showcase, but the gallery would be great for art shows, photography, or pretty much any other event... definitely recommended.
